jackieoThe pillbox hat is an American Classic.
HeyViv tells us: "The Pillbox Hat is a unique and iconic 50s and 60s accessory with an interesting history. At the time it was looked at as a symbol of prim and proper high fashion, calling to mind the matchy ladylike fashion of Jacqueline Kennedy. One was crafted for her by Halston in bone white wool to wear at her husband's presidential inauguration". READ ENTIRE POST--->

U.S. will blow up levee to save Illinois town

After my blog post of 1 May concerning the flooding of the Indian Fishing land back in 1957, I posed the question, "Should such big decisions be for the state or the Fed?" It looks as if this question is also happening here in 2011 as well. According to Reuters: The government said on Monday it will proceed to blow up a levee on the Mississippi River in relieve flood pressure on other levees along the critical commercial navigation route and save the historic town of Cairo, Illinois.

rita Darling 1940's hair is flattering to so many face types. Many of us fret over old fashioned rollers or not having the time to look good and vintage.
Fleur at Diary of a Vintage Girl tells us : "♥ I think this tutorial will work on longer hair, but in order to get the curl going higher up on the hair, rather than just in the bottom 4 inches, you might need to take smaller sections. My hair curls better than some because it is rather damaged from the dyeing and the styling over the years, extremely healthy, lovely, shiny hair will be harder to beat into curly submission! Super straight hair might have trouble with curl staying power too, though the hot sticks do get *extremely* hot, which is what makes them so good. Doing a light, loose set overnight and then doing the hot stick set the next day would probably be the best way!"

This is a lovely rendition of the Alice tale made in the 1980's.
"Alice in Wonderland is a 1985 film adaption of Lewis Caroll's books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. An Irwin Allen production, it was a two-part special made for TV and used a huge all-star cast of notable actors and actresses. The role of Alice was played by Natalie Gregory (replacing Heather O'Rouke who originally won the part, but later turned it down because of a salary dispute). Although Natalie, much like Alice in the original story, is actually a brunette, she wore a blonde wig for this miniseries.Alice in Wonderland was first telecast December 9, 1985, (part one) and December 10, 1985 (part two), at 8:00pm EST on CBS."
You can watch the entire show on THE APRON TV.(It is listed under Children's programs and TV if it does not show up on the main page.)
